History

Aberdeen has a long history with Scotties starting when Carole and her parents purchased a dog from Mrs Taylor (Boyle) when she was 12 years old.

"Jock" went everywhere with Carole and when Warren came along he went everywhere with both of them. When they bought their first home in 1968, a new Scottie went with it and so started the showing of Scotties.

Ch Aberdeen FordyceIn 1972 a dog named "Beau" was purchased from Mrs Dawson, who was then Secretary of the STC of NSW. He was their first Best in Show winner and went to get two Best of Breed at Sydney Royal and thirteen Best in Show all breeds.

As their interest in Terriers evolved they were offered a Norfolk Terrier from Robert Bartram who is well known for Cairns Terriers but also fostered the Norfolks in their formative years in NSW.

The Norfolk's name was Rebel who tirelessly stirred the Scotties at every opportunity, but also turned into a very accomplished example of the breed and won a Best in Group at the Spring Fair Dog Show and a Best in Show at the British Terrier Club.

A Norfolk bitch was imported from Elisabeth Matell's famous "CRACKNOR" Kennel in the UK, forming the foundation of Aberdeen Norfolks in Australia.

As the children became old enough to show, Emma purchased a Bichon Frise from Lee Pieterse and Rachael became involved with Bearded Collie and Norfolk Terriers and and still has a Norfolk today.

Bryce's choice of breed was the Smooth Fox Terrier and purchased his first show dog from Peter Luyten, who then lived in Tasmania, called Rama Easter Majic. This dog won many Best in Show all breeds as well as a Best in Show at the Fox Terrier Club.

Another Smooth Fox Terrier shown by Warren called Rama Ch Dazzling Rivall won Best of Breed and Best in Group at The Melbourne Royal Show in 1994 however the focus on dog showing with Warren and Carole has always been with Scottish Terriers.

Although there have been many litters whelped at "ABERDEEN", the one litter that stands out is the litter starting with the letter "F". There was Fergus, Frazer, Fordyce nd Fynella.

Frazer was shown four times with four Best in Terrier Group and two Best in Show all breed. Fynella won a Challenge at Sydney Royal and many in show awards. Fergus won Terrier of the Year in 1981 and many Best in Show all breeds to his credit. Fordyce was also Terrier of the Year, won many Best in Show all breeds, two Sydney Royal Terrier Groups and one Best in Show at the Sydney Royal Easter Show in 1985.

Over the years there has been dogs and bitches imported to Australia from the UK, USA and New Zealand to assist in the breeding programs.

The very first Wheaten Scottish Terrier was imported to Australia from Michigan in the USA. The "SANDGREG" Kennels, John and Barbara De Saye, kindly allowed one of their high quality Wheaten Scotties to be exported to Australia by a consortium of Warren and Carole Goldsworthy, Brenda Denis and Joan Lamping.

The dog called Ch Sandgregs Karate Kid created an amazing amount of interest and stamped his mark on the many bitches who were put to him. "Joel" as he was known, had a lovely nature, true Terrier temperament and a beautiful Scottish Terrier type.

1999 Royal Sydney Show Best of BreedWith all the breeds that Warren and Carole have been involved with, the quality and type of dogs selected for showing have always been top class and from the most successful kennels for the breed. The Norfolk Terriers from Elisabeth Matell's "CRACKNOR" Kennels in the UK, Fox Terriers from "RAMA" Kennels in Victoria, Scottish Terriers from Stuart Plane "STUANE" Kennels in the UK and John and Barbara De Saye's "SANDGREG" Kennels in the USA.

The latest breeding at Aberdeen has been a result of using both "STUANE" and "TAMZIN" lines from UK and "RAGLAN" lines from Sweden with very positive results winning the breed at Scottish Terrier speciality shows over the last couple of years.

Over the next couple of years, Warren and Carole have a number of litters in the planning stage to keep "ABERDEEN" in the forefront of breeding and showing Scottish Terriers in Australia.
